How to use this little miracle

Intimidated? Totally understandable. The small learning curve that comes with Uresta is worth the ability to do what you love without bladder leaks. Refer to the instructions on the box or use these handy tips to get the hang of it in no time.
How to find the right size Plus

If you are new to Uresta, try the Bladder Support Starter Kit which includes the 3 most common sizes which fit ~90% of women.

Start with the middle size 4 included in the Uresta Starter Kit and follow the steps below:

You have found your perfect size if:
Your bladder leaking has stopped.
You can empty your bladder without difficulty.
Uresta fits comfortably and is barely noticeable.
Uresta stays in place and doesn’t fall out.

Try a smaller size if:
You have trouble emptying your bladder.
Uresta feels uncomfortable.

Try a larger size if:
Bladder leaking hasn't stopped
Uresta shifts out of place or falls out when inserted.

Some women find their ideal size right away, while others prefer testing different sizes over a few days to see how each performs during various activities (e.g., standing at work, going to the gym, or during a night out). Take the time to find your perfect fit—it’s worth it!

If you need to request the smallest size (size 2) or the largest size (size 6), which are not included in the Starter Kit, we can send these to you at no additional cost within the first 30 days. Simply email support@uresta.com to make your request.

Tips for insertion Plus
  1. First off, relax!
The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your pelvic floor muscles will be, making it easier to insert Uresta. Remember, it’s not as hard as it may seem.

Take a few deep breaths before inserting.

Gently push out with your pelvic muscles (as you would during a bowel movement) while inserting Uresta. This helps to relax your muscles and open the vaginal canal.

  2. A little bit of lubrication can help!
If you experience pain or discomfort while inserting Uresta, consider wetting it with warm water or using a lubricant.

For those with severe vaginal dryness or atrophy, using an estrogen cream or hyaluronic acid specifically for vaginal use can improve tissue health and can be used alongside Uresta.

  3. A little lesson on anatomy:
The vaginal canal is shaped like a funnel, with the narrowest part at the opening. You need to insert Uresta past this narrow point. It’s normal to feel some pressure when inserting the widest part of Uresta (the bell shape) past the pubic bone.

Your vagina is angled at about 45 degrees, pointing toward your tailbone. Insert Uresta in the same direction as you would a tampon or menstrual cup.

  4. Make sure you insert it far enough in!
Don’t worry—you can’t lose Uresta inside your body. If Uresta feels like it’s falling out, is uncomfortable, or if you can still feel it after insertion, it’s likely not inserted far enough.

You may feel some pressure as Uresta passes the pubic bone, but once in place, it should be unnoticeable.

The bell shape should sit past the pubic bone, and the entire device, including the handle, should be inside the vagina. The end of the handle should be approximately 2 cm (or 3/4 inch) from the vaginal opening.

To check, insert a finger into your vagina until you touch the bottom of the handle. When properly in place, the opening of the vagina should be at your first knuckle.
Tips for removal Plus
  1. Take a deep breath and relax! The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your pelvic floor muscles will be, making it easier to remove Uresta. This step is crucial and cannot be emphasized enough.

  2. “Bear down” to gain access to the handle of Uresta. It is common for Uresta to migrate a bit higher in the vaginal canal as the day goes on. The handle may be difficult to grasp at first, but bearing down (as if having a bowel movement) will help relax the pelvic floor muscles and bring Uresta closer to the opening of the vagina.

  3. “Break the seal.” Uresta forms a natural suction once in place, so it’s helpful to break the seal before removal. Grip the handle with your finger and thumb, and gently twist or move it side-to-side. This will release the suction and allow you to pull Uresta down and out smoothly.
Common positions for insertion & removal Plus

When inserting or removing Uresta, gently push out with your pelvic muscles, similar to what you do during a bowel movement. This action helps relax your muscles, opens the vaginal canal, and makes removal easier by bringing Uresta closer to the opening.

Here are some common positions for inserting and removing Uresta:

  1. Sitting on the toilet
Lean slightly forward to help relax your muscles.

Alternatively, leaning back or shifting to one side may be more comfortable. You can also place one foot on a step stool for better access.

  2. Standing with one foot elevated
Place one foot on a stool or toilet and bear down or squat in this position.

  3. Squatting (plié position)
Position yourself in a squat with your knees turned out.

  4. Lying down
Lie on your back or side for a more relaxed and accessible angle.

Having issues? We have answers
I feel pain when inserting Uresta. Plus

It is common to feel a bit of pressure when inserting Uresta, especially as you insert Uresta past the pubic bone. However, if you are feeling significant discomfort, the following could be the cause:

  1. Vaginal Dryness or Atrophy: Lubricant can help with mild cases of vaginal dryness. For women who have more advanced vaginal dryness or atrophy, estrogen cream or hyaluronic acid maybe be required to improve your vaginal tissue health and are safe to be used in conjunction with Uresta.
  2. You may need a smaller size: If Uresta is uncomfortable, it might be worth trying a smaller size. If you have already tried the smallest size (size 3) in the Starter Kit, we can send you our smallest size (size 2) for free. Just email support@uresta.com within the first 30 days after purchase.
I can feel Uresta, and it’s uncomfortable. Plus

When using the correct size and fully inserted, Uresta should be unnoticeable. It’s normal to feel slight pressure during insertion, but once positioned correctly, you shouldn’t feel Uresta at all. If Uresta feels uncomfortable, consider the following:

  1. Uresta is not inserted deep enough: If Uresta isn’t inserted far enough into the vagina, you may feel it, and it could be uncomfortable or feel like it’s protruding, particularly when sitting. To avoid this, ensure Uresta is fully inserted, including the handle, and that the widest part is positioned past the pubic bone. When inserted correctly, Uresta should be unnoticeable.

  2. A smaller size may be needed: If If Uresta still feels uncomfortable even after being fully inserted, you might need a smaller size. If you have already tried size 3 from the Starter Kit and continue to experience discomfort, we can provide the smallest size (size 2) at no additional cost. To request this, email support@uresta.com within 30 days of your purchase.
Worried about Uresta moving too far up or losing it? Plus

It is common for Uresta to migrate a bit higher in the vaginal canal as the day goes on. The handle may be difficult to grasp at first, but bearing down (as if having a bowel movement) will help relax the pelvic floor muscles and bring Uresta closer to the opening of the vagina.

Take a deep breath and relax! The more tense you are, the more tense your pelvic floor muscles are, making it more difficult to remove Uresta. We recommend getting into a position where you can bear down and relax your pelvic floor muscles. If you are having a hard time grasping the handle of Uresta … take a breather! Walk away and try again later.

Consider a larger size: If Uresta is migrating a significant amount throughout the day, it may be worth trying a larger size. If you have already tried the largest size (size 5) in the Starter Kit, we can send you our largest size (size 6) for free. Just email support@uresta.com within the first 30 days after purchase.

Is it safe to leave Uresta in for extended periods? Plus

The Uresta works around your needs. Use it for all day protection, during specific scenarios like a good gym workout, or when you have a bad cold. When wearing it daily, we encourage taking it out before bed and giving your vaginal tissues an overnight break.

Since the Uresta is crafted from a non-absorbent medical-grade material, it does not pose the same risk of toxic shock syndrome as tampons.

Uresta doesn’t always stop my leaks. Plus

There are many reasons why Uresta may only work some of the time:

  1. Hormonal fluctuations: Hormonal changes can impact the pelvic floor and contribute to stress incontinence. For instance, drops in estrogen before menstruation can trigger or worsen incontinence. Estrogen levels also decrease during peri-menopause and menopause, which can have a similar effect. If this is happening, consider using a larger size during these hormonal fluctuations for additional support.

  2. Exercise: Some users find they need extra support during high-intensity activities such as running or jumping. If you experience leaking during exercise, sizing up to a larger size may help. If you’ve already tried the largest size (size 5) in the Starter Kit and need more support, we can provide the largest size (size 6) for free. Just email support@uresta.com within the first 30 days after purchase.

  3. Bladder irritants: Certain bladder irritants, like coffee, alcohol, or specific supplements, can contribute to incontinence. Being mindful of these triggers may help manage symptoms more effectively.
Uresta keeps slipping out. Plus

If your Uresta is falling out, it could be for two reasons:

  1. You may need a larger size. If Uresta is not staying in place, you might need to use a larger size. If you have already tried the largest size (size 5) in the Starter Kit, we can provide our largest size (size 6) at no additional cost. Just email support@uresta.com within the first 30 days after purchase.

  2. Uresta may not be inserted far enough. Ensure that Uresta is inserted deep enough so that the widest part (the bell shape) is positioned past the pubic bone. The entire device, including the handle, should be inside the vagina, with the tip of the handle approximately 2 cm (3/4 inch) from the vaginal opening.
Uresta doesn't stay in place. Plus

If you find that your Uresta shifts out of place during the day, this often means you need to try a larger size of Uresta. If you have already tried the largest size (size 5) in the Starter Kit, we can send you our largest size (size 6) for free. Just email support@uresta.com within the first 30 days after purchase.

Difficulty urinating with Uresta in place. Plus

Some women may find it harder to urinate or take longer to fully empty their bladder while using Uresta. This is normal, and there’s no need to rush. Adjusting your position while urinating, such as gently rocking back and forth, can help. It may also take a few uses for your body to fully adjust to Uresta.

Tips if You’re Experiencing Difficulty:

  • If you continue to have trouble urinating with Uresta, consider trying a smaller size.
  • If you have already tried the smallest size (size 3) in the Starter Kit and still experience issues, we can provide the smallest available size (size 2) at no extra cost. Simply email support@uresta.com within 30 days of your purchase.
Uresta dislodges during a bowel movement. Plus

Some women may find that Uresta shifts or begins to come out during a bowel movement. This is common because the pelvic floor muscles naturally relax, which can move Uresta closer to the vaginal opening. For this reason, we recommend “bearing down as if having a bowel movement” when removing Uresta.

Tips for Managing This Issue:

  • You may find it helpful to remove Uresta before a bowel movement or wait to insert it afterward.
  • While some women can keep Uresta in place during a bowel movement, they may need to readjust or push it back in afterward.

If this issue persists, consider trying a larger size. If you’ve already used the largest size in the Starter Kit (size 5), we can provide our largest size (size 6) at no additional cost. Simply email support@uresta.com within 30 days of your purchase.

Spotting after using Uresta for the first time. Plus

Some first-time users may experience light spotting or bleeding due to mild irritation during the initial fitting. If this happens, we recommend pausing the use of Uresta for a few days to allow your body to rest and recover before trying again once the irritation has subsided.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

  • Vaginal Dryness or Atrophy: For some women, spotting or bleeding may be related to vaginal dryness or atrophy. If you have more advanced dryness or atrophy, using an estrogen cream or hyaluronic acid can help improve vaginal tissue health.

If bleeding or spotting continues, we advise consulting your healthcare practitioner for further guidance.
