We offer a 30-day refund window on the Uresta Starter Kit. Should you not be satisfied with your Uresta Starter Kit, we will refund you the cost within 30 days of delivery. Visit our support page to request a refund.
All annual replacement sizes of Uresta and our cleanser and lubricant products are final sale.
Is Uresta covered by insurance?
Yes, Uresta is covered by most major insurance companies in Canada.
Coverage is plan specific, so check with your provider to confirm. Uresta is often included in the medical or incontinence supplies categories and is considered a “bell-shaped” pessary. Uresta is also eligible for Health Spending Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
Do I need a doctor to fit and / or insert?
Uresta is a self-managed solution, so you don’t need a doctor to help you find your right fit or insert it for you.

How do I know what size to buy?
If you’re new to Uresta, you want to purchase the Uresta Starter Kit.
The size of your Uresta has nothing to do with your body shape or type! Each woman’s pelvic floor is different, so Uresta comes in 5 different sizes (2,3,4,5,6) to allow you to find that perfect fit. The Uresta Starter Kit, includes the 3 most popular sizes (i.e. 3,4,5) which fit ~90% of women.

How do I use the Starter Kit to find my size?
The female pelvic floor is complex, but the process of finding the right size Uresta is simple. Start with the middle size 4 included in the Uresta Starter Kit and follow the steps below:
You have found your perfect size if:
- Your bladder leaking has stopped
- You are able to empty your bladder without difficulty
- Uresta fits comfortably and is barely noticeable
Try a smaller size if:
- You are unable to empty your bladder
- It is uncomfortable
Try a larger size if:
- Your bladder leaking has not stopped
- Uresta falls down to the opening of your vagina or falls out altogether
Some women find their perfect fit immediately, whereas others prefer wearing the different sizes over a few days in order to experience different things (e.g. standing at work, going to the gym, night out with friends). Take the time to find your perfect fit – you will be happy you did!

Do I need more than one size?
No, but some women find they use two sizes depending on their activities and state of health. For example, some women use one size throughout the day, but move up a size when exercising.
Where does Uresta go?
Uresta is inserted vaginally and provides support to your pelvic floor muscles through the vaginal wall to stop leaks from occurring. Think of it as a sports bra… but for your bladder! It just holds everything in place when you sneeze, jump, cough, etc.!
How far up should I push it into my vagina?
Uresta should be fully inserted into the vagina, including the handle. Once inserted the bottom of the handle should be approximately 2cm (3/4 inch) deep from the opening of the vagina. It is normal to experience a bit of pressure upon insertion, but as the bell shape, or the widest part of Uresta, passes the pubic bone this will subside as the device settles in to its natural position mid-vagina. Once in place, your Uresta should be comfortable and barely noticeable.

All about everyday use
How long can I use before replacing it?
Uresta is reusable for up to 1 year. Uresta is recommended to be replaced annually to ensure proper fit and safe and effective use.
Do I need to take it out to urinate?
No, Uresta is inserted into vagina and does not plug or obstruct the urethra. Urine stays in your bladder until you are ready to use the washroom. Uresta does not act as a plug or in anyway absorb urine.
If your Uresta is properly fitted and inserted you should still be able to urinate, and have bowel movements when inserted. If you are unable to do so, you should consider a smaller size.
How do you clean it?
Simply wet the bladder support with warm water, apply small amount of natural cleanser or unscented hand soap and gently lather, then rinse with warm water. Wash bladder support before and after each use.
How long can I wear it? Can I leave it in too long?
You are safe to wear Uresta all day or use it just when you need it, like certain activities where you experience leaks or want extra protection (exercising, horseback riding, traveling, swimming, a night out, at work, etc.).
Because Uresta is made of a non-absorbent medical grade material, it doesn’t carry the same Toxic Shock Syndrome risk as tampons. Therefore, it can be left in the body for longer periods of time; that being said, we recommend removing Uresta before bed to allow the vaginal tissues rest and recover to ensure safe and effective long term use.
Can I have intercourse with Uresta inserted?
Uresta should be removed prior to sexual intercourse.
Is Uresta comfortable?
Yes! Many women say Uresta is surprisingly comfortable. Once properly inserted you shouldn’t feel Uresta, similar to how you cannot feel a tampon or menstrual cup once inserted.
Can I use Uresta when I have my period?
No, Uresta should not be used while you are menstruating.
What if I want to use it at night?
Absolutely! Some women experience bladder leaks more frequently at night – when they toss and turn, or when they get up to use the toilet. Uresta can definitely be used to help stop leaks at night, we simply recommend that Uresta then be removed during the day to allow your tissues to rest and breathe. This helps ensure safe and effective long term use.
Will using Uresta long-term make my incontinence worse?
No, Uresta will not make your urinary incontinence symptoms worse. Uresta does not weaken or damage your pelvic floor muscles. Uresta has been clinically proven to be safe and effective for long-term use.
Can I use it if I have an IUD?
Yes, Uresta can be used at the same time as an IUD, as it sits lower in the vagina and will not interfere.

What is it made of?
Uresta is made of a non-absorbent, hypoallergenic medical-grade plastic. It is not made with natural rubber latex and also contains no phthalates such as DEHP.
Is it safe?
Yes! Uresta is FDA cleared and licensed by Health Canada and made from medical-grade material that does not absorb bacteria or odor.
Uresta is also included in The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada’s clinical practice guideline for the conservative care of urinary incontinence in women.
Can I lose the Uresta or insert it too far?
No, you can’t lose Uresta inside of you! It is common for Uresta to migrate a bit higher in the vaginal canal as the day goes on. The handle may be difficult to grasp at first, but bearing down (as if having a bowel movement) will help relax the pelvic floor muscles and bring Uresta closer to the opening of the vagina.
When it comes to removing, take a deep breath and relax! The more tense you are, the more tense your pelvic floor muscles are, making it more difficult to remove Uresta. If you are having a hard time grasping the handle of Uresta … take a breather! Walk away and try again later. Uresta is made of a non-absorbent medical-grade resin that doesn’t absorb bacteria and doesn’t carry the same toxic shock risk as tampons. While we recommend removing Uresta nightly, leaving Uresta in the body for a few days on occasion is no cause for concern.

What if I forget to take it out at night? Can I leave it in too long?
Uresta is made of a non-absorbent medical-grade thermoplastic elastomer resin that doesn’t absorb bacteria and doesn’t carry the same toxic shock risk as tampons. While we recommend removing Uresta nightly, leaving Uresta in the body for a few days on occasion is no cause for concern.
Does Uresta cause Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) or Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)?
Uresta is licensed by Health Canada and FDA cleared and is clinically proven to be a safe and effective solution for managing bladder leaks. Uresta does not increase the risk of UTIs or other infections.
Uresta is made of a non-absorbent material that doesn’t absorb bacteria, therefore it doesn’t carry the same Toxic Shock Syndrome risk as tampons.
Why can’t I just use a tampon?
Some women experience a reduction in their bladder leaks when using a tampon. This is because a tampon applies subtle pressure to the urethra through the vaginal wall – similar to how the Uresta pessary works. For most women, the pressure applied by a tampon is not significant enough to meaningfully reduce or stop their leaks. Uresta on the other hand is specially designed to stop bladder leaks and comes in 5 different sizes to find the perfect level of support.
Long term use of tampons to manage bladder leaks is also not recommended. Tampon use outside the menstrual cycle can result in vaginal dryness and cause pain when extracting. Improper use of tampons also poses the risk of toxic shock syndrome. How does it compare to a traditional pessary?
Unlike conventional pessaries, Uresta is available over the counter and does not require a prescription in Canada. Uresta was designed to be completely self-fitted and self-managed, giving you more independence and control around managing your bladder leaks. Self-fitting allows you to try Uresta at your own pace on your own terms, in the comfort of your own home without the stress and pressure of a physician fitting.

Can I use it if I have pelvic organ prolapse?
Uresta can help women suffering with mild prolapse (grade 1 or 2) manage bladder leaks, but it is not designed to treat prolapse. Unfortunately, Uresta is unlikely to be effective for women suffering with more advanced stages of prolapse (grades 3 and 4) as it prevents Uresta from being positioned properly in the vagina. If you suffer from advanced pelvic organ prolapse, we suggest that you consult with your physician who may be able to recommend proper treatment.
What kind of incontinence does Uresta help with?

Can I use while pregnant?
We do not recommend you use Uresta while pregnant. Given lack of clinical research assessing the use of pessaries during pregnancy, it remains a contraindication of use.
Can I use Uresta if I have vaginal dryness or atrophy? And can Uresta be used with hormone creams?
Uresta can be used while you are using estrogen or hormone creams to help with vaginal dryness or atrophy.
We generally suggest you discuss treatment options for vaginal dryness and/or atrophy with your physician before trying Uresta.
What about pelvic floor physiotherapy?
Uresta is a great compliment to pelvic floor physiotherapy, in fact we have many pelvic floor physiotherapists who recommend Uresta. Uresta provides immediate relief from leaks, which can be beneficial as it takes time and effort to see results from pelvic floor physiotherapy. For some women, pelvic floor strengthening is not enough to completely eliminate their leaks, especially during exercise. Sometimes you just need a little extra support and Uresta can provide that.
