From day one Uresta was built on a simple promise: you shouldn't have to choose between living your life and worrying about leaks. Uresta 2.0 is the next chapter in that promise and it came directly from listening to the over 80,000 women across North America who have trusted this simple, yet effective device to help improve their quality of life.
Why We Made These Changes
Feedback from our community means a lot to us, surveys, reviews, questions to our customer care team, comments from our Facebook group, every honest and open conversation gives us insight into just what you need to live your life more confidently and leak free. Our CEO, Lauren, is famous for reading every single comment and review and she regularly does interviews with women suffering from pelvic health issues, both those who use Uresta, as well as those who don’t. When we looked closely at the feedback, two themes stood out.
Firstly, some women have told us they hesitated to try Uresta because of one nagging question: "What if it gets stuck?" Here's the truth: it can't. Your body has a built-in dead end, so Uresta has nowhere to go. (The vagina is not a tunnel to Narnia.) But we also know that even an unlikely worry can feel very real, and if that one "what if" is the only thing standing between you and a leak-free day, we want it gone. So we made it even easier to say yes to giving Uresta a chance - Enter optional Removal String.
Second, we heard from women with limited dexterity, mobility issues, or arthritic hands that removal could be more difficult than it needed to be - Welcome all new finger loop handle.
Both of these insights pointed to the same opportunity: if we could make removal easier and give women more confidence in that part of the process, we could remove the biggest barrier standing between them and a leak-free life. That's exactly what Uresta 2.0 set out to do.
The Evolution Process
This is the first change to the Uresta Bladder Support design since its inception. . That's not a decision we took lightly. Making changes to regulated medical devices is not easy (to say the least), and Uresta 1.0's core design has helped thousands of women for two decades, so any change had to be backed by real evidence that it would make things better, not just different.
Work on Uresta 2.0 began in January 2025, driven by significant user research into exactly how women were using and potentially struggling with the original Uresta handle. Fittingly, Dr. Scott A. Farrell, the urogynecologist and renowned pessary expert who originally invented Uresta, was directly involved in researching, developing, and studying the redesign, bringing the same clinical rigor to Uresta 2.0 that shaped the original device.
From there, our team developed and tested dozens of prototypes, which included several failures... Sharing some of our favorites below.
Examples of many failed prototypes along the way (some of them, admittedly were quite off the mark):
Every step of the process followed our quality management processes, including a thorough risk analysis and design development review, to make sure the new handle met the same rigorous safety and quality standards Uresta has always been built on.
In the end, we landed on a design that felt almost obvious in hindsight: a simple, highly effective finger hole loop, paired with an optional Removal String for anyone who wants extra confidence when taking it out.

Looking at What We Changed and Why
For those familiar with the look of the original Uresta the changes likely stand out immediately, but let’s unpack them a bit to better understand the why for each change.
Together, these changes address the feedback we had received from users, without impacting the proven efficacy of Uresta’s distinct shape to stop bladder leaks.
Putting It to the Test
Redesigning a device is one thing. Proving it actually works better for real women is another. So we ran a Research Ethics Board-approved clinical comparison trial with 113 participants, each of whom used both the original Uresta and the redesigned Uresta 2.0 and told us, honestly, how each one performed. This group included women who both loved absolutely everything about the original Uresta, and others who frankly hated the removal process. It was important to hear from both.
The results were clear. Uresta 2.0 outperformed the original design across nearly every measure — insertion, comfort during wear, ease of removal, and overall confidence all improved significantly. Most strikingly, confidence in removal — the exact concern we set out to solve — jumped from 61% to 97% agreement among participants.
And it wasn't just the numbers. Participants told us, in their own words, what the change meant to them:
“I didn’t think the handle needed to be redesigned until I saw it. Now I love having the finger hole!”
“Thank you! I absolutely love this new design. I was actually hoping you would make the handle a loop.”
“This version is a million times better. The finger hole makes all the difference.”
What This Means for You
Uresta 2.0 isn't a redesign for the sake of change. It's a direct response to what we heard from our community, built, tested, and validated to give every woman more confidence around removal, so you can focus on what actually matters: stopping bladder leaks and getting back to living your life.
Thank you for trusting us with your feedback. It's the reason Uresta keeps getting better!
